There are many women who suffer from fertility problems such as high amount of FSH (follicular stimulating hormone) – a hormone that facilitates the development of eggs by stimulating the follicles during the ovulation cycle, or with low reserves of eggs. The western medicine has been used for a while to treat these problems with inadequate results and therefore many women suffering from this are turning to Chinese medicine which is proving to be quite effective in treating them.

The women with high FSH levels as well as low egg reserves are not candidates for in vitro fertilization (IVF). On the other hand those with low egg reserves are usually told to start the procedure as soon as possible or opt for IVF using donor eggs. The Use of Acupuncture in Infertility Cases

Acupuncture for infertility promises miraculous cure even where modern scientific methods fail to work. Being a Chinese remedy, Acupuncture might conjure a feeling of dark rooms, hushed voices and incessant pains for pricking of needles. But it is not the case when you go to treat your infertility syndrome with acupuncture. It, on the other hand, promises complete relaxation and instant cure from infertility.

Acupuncture is based on Chinese methods. The Chinese people believed that to remain healthy, energy should flow in a balanced way throughout your body. Whenever there is a blockage in the flow of that energy, inflammations will occur leading to severe pains and several types of diseases. Since energy flows the meridian points, so acupuncture inserts needles in different parts of the body to make energy flow smoothly. Placing needles on certain points unblocks the energy points. This reduces the particular type of disease.

This wonderful therapy is very useful and can address the pain directly. The needles are inserted at specific points known as acupoints. Wherever you are experiencing the pain, there are acupuncture points also known as acupoints that can help decrease the pain. It proves as a boon in curing various chronic pains, due to an injury, surgery, repetitive motion, or a medical condition. These responses can occur locally, i.e., at or close to the site of application, or at a distance, mediated mainly by sensory neurons to many structures within the central nervous system. This can lead to activation of pathways affecting various physiological systems in the brain.

Studies have shown that acupuncture definitely increases the rate of pregnancy in women undergoing in vitro fertilization. Though it may be a challenging experience for the child and the parents in the beginning, the results seem to suggest that it is helpful in the end. Traditional acupuncture requires the patient to lay still for long periods, to endure the close contact of a stranger and the invasive insertion of needles, all of which could prove to be exceptionally difficult for a child, particularly one on the severe end of the autistic spectrum.

In vitro fertilization is a procedure that has helped couples around the world get pregnant in a safe manner. In this procedure, sperm from the male partner, or donor sperm, and eggs from the female partner, or donor eggs, are combined in a laboratory to form embryos. Embryos are then transferred to the woman’s uterus, where they may implant and develop into a child.

For all of its fame and glory, however, in vitro fertilization is not a sure thing. Most couples know this going in. Certain factors may increase or decrease a couple’s chances of success, such as the age of the woman and the overall health of both partners.
