I have enjoyed working the problems in this “workbook” and have found the conceptual material good. It might help to know that this book depends heavily on two other works, namely: The Web That Has No Weaver : Understanding Chinese Medicine and Essentials of Chinese Acupuncture. Without these works, the workbook depends heavily on ones own knowledge, which makes it somewhat pointless. That being said, there is a weath of useful information and I found a new and simpler way to look at patients, patterns and treatment philosophy. I have also been reading Miriam Lee’s Insights of a Senior Acupuncturist which has had a powerful influence on the way I look at treatment. This book does require some clinical experience and may not be for the beginning student.
Rating: 3 / 5
I found this book to be more practical than most books on the subject, and it also gives a good conceptual understanding — something all too rare, in this area.
If you want to learn what really works, is practical, and learn to go beyond using approaches that are like mechanical, rote formulas…you’ll like this book.
