There are many women who suffer from fertility problems such as high amount of FSH (follicular stimulating hormone) – a hormone that facilitates the development of eggs by stimulating the follicles during the ovulation cycle, or with low reserves of eggs. The western medicine has been used for a while to treat these problems with inadequate results and therefore many women suffering from this are turning to Chinese medicine which is proving to be quite effective in treating them.
The women with high FSH levels as well as low egg reserves are not candidates for in vitro fertilization (IVF). This is because the high FSH levels result into shortening or complete cessation of the menstrual cycle meaning that they cannot have a successful IVF procedure. On the other hand those with low egg reserves are usually told to start the procedure as soon as possible or opt for IVF using donor eggs. Although these procedures will enable the women get children they do not deal with the underlying causes that are usually caused by other factors such as bodily functions and mental state of the patient.

A HOMEOPATHIC APPROACH TO THYROID PROBLEMS
Much has been written by homeopaths about not treating symptoms; rather we look to the causal chain. So it is with the thyroid; we would look at the thyroid’s function in conjunction with the ovaries or testes and pituitary gland – the endocrine system as a whole. An imbalance in the endocrine system also requires an evaluation of the pancreas, liver and adrenal functions. It is then we can begin to improve:
• Energy levels
• Muscle and joint pain
• Bone health
• Immune system function
• Sleep quality
• Thyroid functions
• Fertility
• Menopausal symptoms

Infertility acupuncture may have started out as a ripple but in recent times, it is gathering wave-like momentum as an alternative treatment for infertility. But is it a sound and reliable treatment?
Acupuncture is still somewhat of a mystery to modern science. The fact that a reasonable explanation of how it actually works is yet to be established tends to lend a degree of skepticism from those who don’t understand it. However, in the area of infertility, several studies conducted in recent years have produced encouraging results when it has been used in conjunction with modern medical techniques. Infertility is such an emotinal issue that couples, who have exhausted all possible avenues of traditional treatments without success, will then consider other alternatives.

I was on Depo-provera for 6 years. Doctors never told me about fertility problems or the bone density issues associated with it. Now I’ve been off for 3 years and have been trying to conceive ever since. I’m 27 years old now and don’t want to be still trying when I’m 40. I only want one child so I really don’t want to fertility drugs and end up with triplets or something. I’ve heard acupuncture I a viable alternative to drugs. If anyone has tried it I would love to hear your results. And if anyone knows of any other alternatives please share.
I do realize, as with most studies of alternative medicine, that hard evidence proving or disproving the effectiveness is nonexistent. Fact of the matter is no one is willing to take alternative medicine seriously. This unfortunately includes such things as white willow bark, an herb that is entirely responsible for chemically manufactured aspirin just as opium poppies are responsible for morphine and so forth and so on. In fact whether the modern medical profession would like to admit it or not almost all of modern medicine originally stems from some type of alternative or “snake oil medicine”. Now of course this does not mean that all of it is valid by any means. “Leeching” a patient to remove bad blood or evil spirits is of course absurd. However acupuncture is one that does not have enough evidence through valid controlled studies to prove or disprove it’s assistance in fertility. Which is why I asked for PERSONAL EXPERIANCE and not opinions.
And if you’re wondering why I’m so instant on a natural alternative: After years of being medicated without ever being told of the consequences I have been left with kidney and liver damage, osteopenia, and fine hand tremors. Not to mention the fertility problems I’m now experiencing. Yes, pharmaceuticals are very necessary and I do still take those that are, however you can see why I’m extremely reluctant to take any more pharmaceuticals than absolutely necessary. And fertility medicines are not a necessity.
