Women who suffered from sciatic nerve during pregnancy, especially severe cases–?
Did it happen again in following pregnancies? If yes, how did you manage with the other children at home? And if no, what preventitive measures did you take to keep this from happening again? I have very bad pain that keeps me from even being able to get out of bed or bend over to pick things up off the floor or put my socks and pants on. Did you find anything particularly useful for the pain such as physiotherapy, massage, acupuncture or chiropractor? I know there’s a lot of questions in there, but as many answers as you can offer would be HUGELY appreciated. Thanks!

Oh yes, I visited my chiropractor regularly! In the later months there was so much relaxin in my system that my back wouldn’t stay in the right place for long, but it was some relief at least. I also wanted to be sure my spine and pelvis were as straight as they could be for the delivery.
Now I take my daughter too. With all their head bobbling, they can put their neck out, and that makes them spit up more, and will make it uncomfortable to feed on one side. So if bub seems to be having trouble on one side, that’s worth checking out.
CHiropractic care helped me very much. Yoga is helpful too. Nothing got rid of my pain completely but these things helped immensely. They can also make your labor shorter and easier!
I’ve had four sons. I had sciatic nerve pain during only one pregnancy (my second) and was told it was directly related to his position in utero. They warned me that it was possible that it wouldn’t resolve with delivery but thankfully it did. It was a bear, but I only had to endure it during my third trimester. Imagine, the little buggers get on our nerves even before they’re born!!
I had horrible sciatic nerve pain with my first pregnancy. I was about 5 months along when it started. I’m pretty sure it was caused by me pulling out carpet from a bedroom by myself. We just got the keys to our new house and my husband had to work that day, of course I couldn’t wait for him to help me. Bad idea! The sciatic nerve pain started within a few days of me doing that and continued through the pregnancy. I’m now 39 weeks pregnant with my 2nd and have had NO sciatic nerve pain. I think the key is to listen when people say NO strenuous activity when you’re pregnant. Just take it easy. I was about to start seeing a chiropractor during my first pregnancy when it got a little better, bearable anyway. So I didn’t go. I’ve heard that can help, though.
Good luck! I feel for you. That was the worst pain I’ve ever had, even worse than my labor and delivery.
I am not joking i am only 13 weeks preg and i have it in my back its tolerable for now this is my 4th pregnancy, with the other pregnancies i also suffered with pelvis pain i could hardly move it took about 2 months after the birth to feel normal again. I didn’t have any physio or massage all i had was stubbornness and other children to raise and look after. I don’t know how i managed it is not piratical to use crutches with toddlers so i just got on with it. Cried every day but hey that’s comes with the territory
